    Dictionary definitions do a pretty accurate job of describing the sight and sound sensation known as Wild Honey. Indicative of strong passion and desire, the first female to emerge from the Actiontrack Arsenal of talent arrives on the scene in a manner that certainly goes beyond the norm in today's music theater.

    Sure there are numerous artists who fit the physical model- a young, sexy and magnetic image, attractive enough to sell a few CDs on looks alone. However, that's where any similarities end between Wild Honey and the other female artists on the charts today.

    "The Wild Honey thing is like a Sade type vibe with some hip-hop, dance and pop thrown in the mix," says Monique, whose soft and sensuous vocal tone is the sound known as Wild Honey. "Seems like all the females out there today have kind of gone over the edge. Even the so called pretty girls in pop and hip-hop are coming off either thug-like or a bit too nasty on the sex tip."

    That's not a knock against free speech, just the Wild Honey way of letting you know there's a new lady on the scene. And she's speaking her mind in a way that's going to catch the ears of everybody. Born and raised in Harlem, NYC, she is truly in tune with the struggles of coming up where things ain't always easy. Nonetheless, she believes that a girl can express her desires, command her respect and all the while carry herself like a lady. That is indeed the Wild Honey way, special and unusual.

    Musically, the Wild Honey style brings forth a wide array of sonic energies, from the steamy-hypnotic Caribbean juice of "I Wanna Be Loved By You," and the tribal club-pulsing thump of her theme song "Wild Honey," to the head-nodding, booty movin' grooves "Bounce Your Butt," and "I Go Crazy." Whatever the groove, she delivers her message in a sweet and sticky, vocally poetic ambience that makes the Wild Honey vibe impossible to resist, and even harder to pigeon hole into a narrow musical category.

    "The original tracks we came up with should really open some ears and minds to a new form of expression." according to Monique, whose home is now just outside Petersburg, VA. "And we've got a couple of remakes up our sleeves that will definitely shake things up."

    The "we" she refers to is writer/producer Al "Gmann" Green. Originally, Wild Honey started out as a duet featuring Monique and Gmann, much like a modern day Peaches and Herb. After recording an entire album of material they made a big deal shopping trip to NYC. Though no deal was landed they received a lot of strong and favorable responses from several majors.

    Says Gmann, "One exec sat with us listening to all 15 songs, telling us he really loved the material and the whole concept, but thought it was ahead of its time; suggesting we sit on the project a few years and wait for the music scene to catch up to it. We took that as the ultimate compliment."

    Instead of sitting on it, the two intensified their focus, expanding the concept and updating the sound to stay ahead of the game. Though G can be heard in the background throughout the Wild Honey project, the lead role was handed to Monique, putting the best foot - or face - forward, that which is sweet or pleasant, like honey.

    "I know the people are ready for a change, for a female that projects a sensual image without going overboard."

    With the door for originality having finally been opened, the time is now for the emergence of this smooth, hot and sticky Wild Honey thang.
