The PHLO - The Future of Soul Music Has Arrived
(pronounced like "flow")

The Positive Hype Lives On

The PHLO is the powerful urban soul vocal duo of Rodney Stith and Michael Prealeau. Native sons of the state of Virginia, this team has been serving up their energetic style of R&B since the mid-nineties.
The PHLO: Michael Prealeau (L) Rod Stith (R) Reviving Soul for the New Millennium    Veterans of stage and studio, there's virtually no musical ground these two can't travel. Their creativity is inspired by a wide range of musical genres, enabling The PHLO to touch a familiar chord in music fans from all walks of life. Both members bring a unique star quality to the table, which when combined, creates a musical vibe the strength of which is constantly reaching new peaks.
Rodney's vocal delivery comes across with a smooth edge, mellow on the mind yet powerful enough to stir new emotions with each note. In perfectly blended contrast, Prealeau jets through the microphone with a spirited timbre that captivates the listener's heart and soul. The two voices combine in a harmonic chemistry that reminds one of the days of soul gone by. But be warned, The PHLO's groove is tuned to take today's urban flavor to a much higher level.
In the course of developing the PHLO sound, Michael and Rodney have weathered the storms and celebrated many victories. The PHLO has taken part in performances with such notable stars as The Sounds Of Blackness, The O'Jays and Ashford and Simpson. Along the way they've built a reputation as one of Virginia's hottest talent forces.
"We really think this will be our year...finally!" says Prealeau. "We've been working at it a long time and paid a lot of dues along the way. As performers we're ready for the next level."
Adds Rodney, "With the response we've been getting from audiences, especially over the last few months, I think the people are really starting to feel The PHLO. I can't wait 'til they hear the new music."
In fact, the PHLO sound can be heard in the motion picture "Nothin' 2 Lose" starring Brian Hooks (from "3 Strikes" and "Phat Beach"). The movie, which was filmed in The PHLO's hometown of Petersburg, VA is set for direct-to-video release in the summer of 2000, with cable broadcasts to follow. Two songs from their vast musical collection, "Movin' Your Body," and "Full Love," are featured on the soundtrack of this Barry Bowles directed film.
The PHLO is currently recording their hits at Actiontrack's Love Monster Recording Studio in Petersburg, VA, with producer/engineer Al "Gmann" Green. Plans for the year 2000 include completing more recordings from their extensive song catalog, making a promo video, and showcasing their musical one-two punch for the music industry. The ultimate goal for Y2K is to land a record deal with major distribution. In fact, there are several record companies awaiting the completion of their current wave of recording.
